What happens.
Four bear cubs - one white, one black, one brown and one shapeshifter are left in a way by their families to survive in the wild. The white bear, called Kallik, watches her mother fight orcas as the ice melts. Lusa, the black bear cub, escapes a zoo in Vancouver to find the brown bear cub, Toklo, whose brother died while going over a mountain, and whose mother abandoned him. Ujurak, a shapeshifter has no memories of the time when his mother was alive, yet can change into any animal he wants to. During the book these bears draw closer to each other and Kallik is the only bear left alone by the end of the book. [Note that Ujurak does not have a chapter named after him].                                                                                                                                                       Why you should read this book.
