There are 4 main ways we can do this:
- Volunteering
- Raising money
- Talking to/persuading decision makers
- Spreading awareness
We played this game to help us learn about actions we can take. It's a great game to learn about making changes.
icivics.com has loads of fantastic games and activities to help children learn about how government works. It is non-partisan, but it is rather american focused, so not all games are relevant to New Zealand. Never-the-less, there is lots of useful information to take out of it, like the role of a judiciary, how debates work, how to write a law, international relations, what representatives do and much more.
I really recommend the site, and the games. They do a great job of simply explaining a complex process.
